In the movie Project Hail Mary, science teacher Ryland Grace (who is played by Ryan Gosling) wakes up light-years from Earth on a spaceship. He has no memory of his life or how he ended up in Outer Space, but as time goes on, his memory comes back in fragments and his mission is clear: find out what is causing the sun (and dozens others in the galaxy) to die out, and save all humans from extinction. He worries about being able to pull off this incredible feat on his own, but an unexpected companion could change that. Upon meeting Rocky, the intergalactic best friend made up of rock-like materials, Ryland realizes that he and the alien have a lot in common on their own planets. Can the two manage to save their suns, or is the task too great for two completely different species to complete?
