20 years ago on September 11, 2001, terrorists hijacked, and flew planes into the Twin Towers and the Pentagon. The terrorists took over 4 planes, but only 3 did mass destruction. Two planes flew into the Twin Towers, and 1 hit the Pentagon. The last plane is thought to have been heading toward the capitol, Washington DC. But after the terrorists took over the plane the passengers took the plane back. The hope was to fly the plane, but it ended up crashing in a field, and 44 people died. At 8:19 AM, a flight attendant on flight 11 called using an inflight phone, she said that the cockpit was unreachable and that she thought they were being hijacked. At 8:24, a hijacker said, “We have some planes. Just stay quiet, and you will be okay.” At 8:46, 5 hijackers flew flight 11 into the North tower, into floors 93 to 99. The passengers and flight crew were killed instantly along with the people on those floors. At 9:00 AM, the second plane was hijacked. A passenger called home telling his loved ones that the plane had been hijacked. At 9:03 AM, flight 173 hit the South tower. At 9:12, passengers and flight attendants on flight 77 were calling home. At 9:37 AM, flight 77 hit the Pentagon. On flight 93 at 9:58, which was thought to have been heading to the capitol, 37 telephone calls are known to have been made. One minute after that, at 9:58, the South tower collapsed. More than 800 civilians were killed. Four minutes later flight 93 crashed into an empty field, after passengers took the plane back.  At 10:28, the North tower collapsed. 2,996 people died in the attacks.
