Returning to Online School – Tips & Tricks

Mira Clayborn, Layout Editor

As we all know COVID-19 has caused our middle school to transition back to 100% online learning. This can be hard especially after getting used to hybrid. Although it is hard there are a few tips and tricks that could help make your day better.

Stepping Away

Since all of the school work we do now is on our computers it is important to step away and focus your eyes on something else for a little while. In your breaks throughout the day, step away from screens (that includes your phone) and go outside, play with your dog or talk to your family. Focusing on something other than a screen can give your eyes a rest and it will make you feel better getting up and moving around.

Make a To-Do List

Making a to-do list can help you prioritize your work. This might sound old school but it does really help. Writing down the work you have gets it out of your head and onto the paper. When you make the to-do list write down all the assignments you have to do. Then, start with the small ones so you can get those crossed off. Then move on to the bigger assignments.

Workspace

Having a workspace can help you stay focused and on track. If you have a desk or a table to work on it will feel more like you are in school. If you have a space away from distractions will help you focus on your work and on the meet.

Make a Schedule

At the beginning of the day think about what you want to accomplish. If you think about what you want to do you will be more likely to do it. Also, making a schedule can add structure to the day so you don’t feel like you are working towards nothing. You can add time to go outside or play a game. You could even add in if you want to workout that day. The schedule doesn’t have to be strict and it could change everyday, it just gives you structure.
