Hey Dragons! With Halloween coming up quickly, we figured that this Monthly Debate question should be Halloween themed. So, we chose the question: Do you prefer silly or scary costumes on Halloween?

Ella Slupik: Silly Costumes –

There are several different reasons why funny costumes are better than scary ones on Halloween. First of all, with silly costumes, there are endless possibilities for group outfits. Nothing is better than going trick-or-treating with your friends with matching costumes, whether they are from a movie, video game, or just some other silly outfit. Another reason that funny costumes are the best is because they are school appropriate. Many scary costumes involve gore or weapons, which cannot be worn at school. Why purchase the costume if you can’t even wear it to school? One final reason why silly costumes are better than scary ones is because they avoid causing genuine fear in little kids. Sure, Halloween is about being spooky, but how terrible would it be if you ruined some little kid’s night because they saw you wearing a terrifying costume while trick-or-treating? That’s not a pleasant thought, is it? Overall, there are endless reasons why silly outfits are the best on Halloween, and they will top scary costumes every time.

Scary costumes on Halloween are so much better than funny costumes. Halloween is meant to be scary, not comedic. Comedic outfits are fine, but frightening, scary costumes would keep the tradition. The origin of Halloween came from an ancient Celtic festival. They believed that the spirit world and the living world blurred together on the night of October 31st. To ward off evil spirits, you would wear scary costumes. We should keep this tradition. Scary costumes are meant for Halloween.
