Hey Dragons! For our first monthly debate of the school year, we are going to be discussing a very controversial topic: Do you eat macaroni and cheese with a fork or a spoon?
Ella Slupik: Spoon –
Eating mac and cheese with a spoon just makes so much more sense than with a fork. With a box of just simple Kraft macaroni and cheese, a fork can be quite difficult to use. First of all, stabbing the noodles with the fork is very hard, and oftentimes they just get shredded in the process. Either that, or you can spend painstaking minutes of your life lining up the noodles perfectly so that the holes go on each prong of the fork. Some argue that you could just scoop it up with the fork, but you get so many fewer noodles, and it is so much easier to do with a spoon. Something else you can easily scoop up with a spoon is the cheese sauce. With a fork, all of the cheese sauce just drains out into the bowl, and then it is all wasted. With a spoon, you are able to get the perfect sauce-to-noodle ratio without the waste. Another thing is that spoons are much easier to clean than forks, due to their smooth surface and no space between prongs. There are many reasons why a spoon is much better than a fork for mac and cheese, and these are just a few of them.
Maddie Hahn: Fork –
To be honest, I don’t understand how anyone can eat mac and cheese with a spoon. Using this method, you will just get a spoonful of cheesy goop. However, using a fork you can stab the noodles and the excess cheese will run off creating the perfect cheese to noodle ratio. A fork can also be used to scoop similarly to a spoon, while also letting the cheese drip through the prongs. Some would argue that it is difficult to stab the noodles, however, it really does not have to be perfect and in the long run it is easier than scooping and scooping just for the noodles to slide off your spoon. Even though you may think that a spoon is easier to clean, this is actually not true because running water will splash off the utensil and get water all over your counter. Overall, a fork is just a much better and more efficient utensil to use while eating mac and cheese.
