Lately the Trump administration has been taking various actions over many administrations. The specific administration we will be talking about today is in the medical field. Trumps administration’s actions have brought biomedical research to “the brink of extinction”. This is because biomedical research relies on grants from the National Institutes of Health. The Trump administration claimed they need time to review what they spend the grants on. Currently (Feb 28, 2025) we have no idea if the Trump administration will continue to fund biomedical research process or not. This research includes research on Alzhimers disease, cancer, and heart disease. 

This is spreading panic among scientist as many important studies are now on hold. These projects include “pancreatic cancer, brain injuries and child health. Last week alone, the N.I.H. canceled 42 of 47 scheduled meetings to assess new grants.” – New York Times. These current projects on pause are very important for the improvement of vaccines and drugs, scientist say new advancements are at major risk.
