Spelling Bee:
The Spelling Bee is over in 7 rounds, with Abhay R. taking home the title of Spelling Bee Champion once again with the word tegular. He advances to the regional bee in March, hopefully going to nationals soon. Urvi D. and Lara H. got runner up. The competition was competitive this year with 60 people registered for it! (10 more than usual). Congratulations to all participants who stepped up with bravery and courage.
Global Problems:
6th graders have finished their presentations on global problems. Each 6th either picked a partner or worked alone, they chose a problem that’s going on in the world right now and did research on it. The goal of this project is for students to think up solutions for the problem.
Festival of Cultures:
Recently the Festival of Cultures was carried out. Parents and students would volunteer to come and show their culture. There were multiple booths including Mexico, Nicaragua, Hawaiian Islands, France, Libya, Korea, Australia, India, Jewish culture and religion, Paraguay, Palestine, Taiwan, Irish/ Scottish/ Celtic history, and Taiwan. Upon that there was also a booth to determine where your ancestors came from. The goal of this event is to connect with each other and share our culture. This will strengthen the community we have at Flagstaff and encourage more inclusion.
