Best Moments:
When Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo performed at the Oscars everyone assumed that it would be a “Wicked” Specticle, and they didn’t let us down. Starting with Ariana in a sparkling red gown with a ruby stiletto fixed to the back. A tribute to Judy Garland she sang “Somewhere over the Rainbow.” from “The wizard of Oz”.She then left the stage to make way for Cynthia, who performed “Home,” Dorothy’s ballad from “The Wiz.” And of course they finished with the signature song from “Wicked.”
For the best host Conan O’Brien definitely won. From the filmed opening to his monologue, O’Brian had a joyful glint all through the night. O’Brian also was skilled in explaining why the Oscars mattered. He also gave a beautiful monologue about recognizing the artisans, not just the a listers, who make the movies. “A craft that can, in moments, bring us all a little closer together.” (New York Times)
Even though it was apparent at this point that the Academy loved the film “Anora”. But when Emma Stone read her Mikey Madison as best actress it was still a shock. Even though Madison has won some awards throughout her career, it was expected that Demi Moore would take home the oscar for her role in “The Substance”. The camera caught the exact moment when Mikey was caught off guard by her win. She clapped her hands around her mouth and during her speech called the moment “very surreal.”
