Immigration –
Trump decisively plans to press more strict border regulation and begin deporting undocumented immigrants. It remains unclear how far president trump will go, like if the focus will mainly be on new undocumented immigrants or deporting immigrants who have already been flagged or convicted of a crime. A very common worry circulating the media is will he deport the immigrants who have already created a stable life, and are home owners?
China and Tik tok –
There are a lot of mixed messages on whether Trump likes or dislikes China, but nevertheless he plans to preserve Tik Tok software in the US as a New York Times article says; “Trump himself frequently criticizes China but admires its autocratic president, Xi Jinping.”
Abortion –
Trump grasps that the “Pro Life” act is a lose situation for rebuplicans but he still plans to make healthcare for women planning to get an abortion, more diffucult to access. He will also make it easier for states to deny abortions including in the case of a medical emergency.
Ukraine –
There is a highly likely chance Trump will send over more aid to help Ukraine. He changes his estimate of ending the war from one day to six to eight months. He states he has an idea to convince Vladimir Putin into a truce.
Tariffs –
Trump aimes to impose tariffs up to 20 percent on any goods entering the US from other counties. This act makes foreign objects more expensive, which will hopefully help American companies, even if this raises consumer prices. It is unclear if he will pursue sweeping tariffs (apply to all goods) or targeted tariffs (focus on specific items).
Climate –
Trump will most likely withdraw the Paris climate agreement and expand oil and gas drilling production, he shows little concern towards climate change and plans to withdraw most of Biden’s policies. It is unknown what these effects will lead to for our climate.
