As some of you may know on April 19, 2019, The beautiful and notorious Cathedral of Notre Dame was caught in a destructive fire. The fire was determined to be caused from either a cigarette or a faulty electrical system. The fire destroyed most of the wooden roof and the spires collapsed (the pyramid structure on top of the columns). There were no casualties and all the catholic relics were saved from the flames.
As of December 7, 2024 the Cathedral was successfully rebuilt and reopened. To commemorate the reconstructed building, the president of France Emmanuel Macron held a celebration and invited around 50 heads of state from various countries, including the soon to be present of the United States. The celebration was held at 7:20 (local time) and in total 1,500 people attended. In honor of the reopening, a clergy and choir sang, along with a speech,
“No one alive has seen the cathedral like this, it is more than restored, it is reborn.” said Father Olivier Ribadeau Dumas. The Cathedral of Notre dame is now officially open to the public and completely restored!
