Coachella is a major American music festival that is often one of the biggest events of the year. The music festival is held in Coachella Valley of Indio, California, being sponsored by Empire Polo Club and Goldenvoice. The festival lasts for three weeks being broken down into weekends. Oftentimes, it is also live streamed on Youtube as well, so if you can’t go to the festival, you can experience it through Youtube. You can also do quests at the event through the newest edition, Canva.
Lineup
Each year, they have a lineup of artists with other artists after. This year’s lineup is Lana Del Rey on April 12, and 19, Tyler the Creator, on April 13, and 20, Doja Cat on the 14, and 21, and No Doubt. In between each artist there are other artists in between the lineups. Some of these include Sabrina Carpenter, Faye Webster, Tyla, Grimes, LE SERRAFIM, YG Marley, and Renee Rapp.
Activities
There are many activities that are held at Coachella along with music. Some of these include the activities tent, Absolut, Breaking Bread, Camp Lounge, Coachella Art Studios, Coachella Shopping, Do LaB, Energy Playground, Every One, the Ferris Wheel, Field Of Dreams, Method, Pinterest Manifest Station, POSTed Studio, Record Safari, Salon, Silent Disco, Tattoo, The Wellness Oasis, TRASHED – Art of Recycling, and many more.
Food
There is a variety of foods and drinks to choose from. People can eat at Indio Central Market, Outstanding In The Field, Sauce Bar by Postmates, and many more like Sweetfin, and Battambong BBQ. There are also allergy free options, and vegan and vegetarian options.
Art
According to the Coachella website, “Coachella’s curators scour the globe for artists, architects, and designers to transform the Empire Polo Field.” In Coachella Valley, they have pieces of art, and architecture displayed all over the area. Some of this year’s new artists are Morag Myerscough, Nebbia Works, and HANNAH. Some of the past favorite art pieces that have returned are Balloon Chain by Robert Bose, Do LaB, Don Kennell, Raices Cultura, and Spectra by NEWSUBSTANCE.
Backlash
Coachella is an amazing experience that has a wonderful and inclusive community. Each year it is loved by many such as influencers like Will Smith, Emma Roberts, Charli D’amelio, Eva Marisol Gutowski, Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner, Carter Kench, and many more. Although it is loved, it has received much backlash, from its lineup of artists, to Frank Ocean’s performance. People were disliking the Coachella Lineup this year, and stated by the LA Times is, “A Buzzy lineup than years past and stiff competition in the live music space.” Which means that the old lineup expectations are not being met, and now are not what the festival used to be.
Coachella is overall, a great and fun festival, and no matter what you like or want, there is likely to be something there that will fit what you want.
