This school year we have some really amazing staff. There are so many wonderful staff members who make sure you and the students are safe, even the people we don’t notice on a daily basis keep us safe. One man in particular you see every day after school if you are a walker is… the crosswalk guy! He stands there every day making sure we get home safely. In this article we interview him about his work life and outside work life.
What is your name? My name is Tim Sturges
How long have you worked at the crosswalk? I have worked at the crosswalk since 2015, so for 9 years.
What is the best part of your job? The best part of my job is working with the students. I love doing something important to keep students safe.
Is this your full time job? I’m retired, but I work at Flagstaff for 2 hours a day and at another school for 1 hour.
What do you enjoy outside of work? I enjoy reading and going on road trips with my wife.
Has a student ever gone out of their way to make your day better? Everyday. Every time someone gives me a fist bump or a high five or tells me thank you.
What did you do before this job as a career? I worked for the City of Longmont in the water department for 30 years.
Wow! Did you know all that about Tim Sturges because I know that I didn’t. He does so much outside of school and for us in school. So to make his day better say “thank you or have a good day”. Also give him a high five or fist pump. If you ever see a staff member or student you don’t know, get to know them, ask them questions. It could make someone’s year.
