The cold in January has been called “stock show weather” after the annual National Western Stock Show happening in the month. It is the 118th Stock Show this year. 

In February 2020, residents of Donnersbachwald, Austria, built a giant snowman named Riesi, which reportedly reached 124.8 feet, beating the previous record held in Maine, however Guinness disqualified Austria.
