The Time’s Magazine has released the official Time’s Person of the Year for 2023. To be the Time’s Person of the Year is an extremely prestigious award that highlights a person, group, or even idea that has had a significant impact on the year. The award went to Volodymyr Zelensky (Ukrainian President) in 2022, Elon Musk (SpaceX Founder) in 2021, and to President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris in 2020.
This year, the choice is definitely someone who has become a household name: Taylor Swift. She has filled stadiums, she has been on the Hot 100 a record-breaking 52 times, and has brought a lot of hope and love to the dark times we live in. Swift has also become the most streamed artist of 2023 with 26.1 billion total views on Spotify alone. Her song “Anti-Hero” gained her yet another record-breaking win: it made her the first artist to earn seven nominations at the Grammys for one song. The list doesn’t even stop there – Swift also won nine awards at the VMAs, tying her for most awards won at the VMAs in the night. Additionally, Swift’s Era’s Tour Concert Film almost immediately became the highest grossing concert film of all time, within both the US and Canada.
Taylor Swift has truly become a worldwide sensation so it truly is no surprise that she is named as one of the most influential people of the year.
Taylor Swift has a total of three covers that will be on the magazines. One that people are really enjoying is a specific cover which, in a very sweet gesture, features one of Taylor’s cats, Benjamin Button. It is meant to show the connection between people and their animals.
Overall, many people really agree with this decision for the award recipient – Taylor Swift has brought many people joy and happiness, and that is what a person should truly be doing as a role model.
