The Protectorate has been sacrificing a child to the witch for as long as they can remember. Once a year, on the Day of Sacrifice, they leave the youngest child in the woods to save themselves for another year. But the witch in the woods is kind. Her name is Xan, and she rescues the child every year and takes it to the other side of the forest to find it a safe and loving home. But one year, she accidentally feeds a baby moonlight, filling the baby with incredible magic. She decides to adopt the child, who she calls Luna, and raise her on her own. But as her magic begins to emerge, everything begins to get more dangerous and Luna learns that maybe her world isn’t quite what it seems.
